Apple's Current Updates For iWork ’08

Apple has released a number of updates for Keynote 4.x, Pages 3.x and Numbers 1.x, the three applications that comprise the company's iWork '08 suite. After you install these updates, you will be running Keynote 4.0.3, Pages 3.0.2 and Numbers 1.0.2 respectively.

Apple didn't release much information about the updates except to say that the Keynote update addresses stability and performance issues when working with large documents. The Pages and Numbers updates address compatibility issues with Mac OS X.

Users report improved performance after installing these updates.

You only need these updates if you are running the '08 version of iWork.

The easiest way to download and install these updates is by using the Software Update capability built into Mac OS X. Follow these steps:

  1. If you have a dial-up connection to the Internet, connect to your Internet service. Skip this step if you use a broadband service.
  2. Choose "Software Update" from the Apple Menu. Your computer will access Apple's website and find any updates available for the Apple software on your computer.
  3. Click on "Install" where "x" is the number of updates available for your computer.

If one or more updates do not appear in your Software Update window, switch to the Finder and confirm that Keynote, Numbers and Pages are in the iWork '08 folder within the Application folder on your hard drive. If they are not in that folder, find them on your hard drive and drag them there. (If you do not have an iWork '08 folder, you are probably using an earlier version of iWork and do not need (and cannot install) these updates.) Then run Software Update again.
